Booking an Airport Limo with a Car Seat in Toronto

What Ontario law requires, which seat fits which child, and why booking ahead is the only reliable route.

What Ontario requires

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act sets child restraint requirements by weight and height. In broad terms: rear-facing for infants under 9 kg, forward-facing with a tether for toddlers roughly 9 to 18 kg, and a booster seat for children roughly 18 to 36 kg until they reach 145 cm tall or turn eight.

Licensed taxis and limousines have historically had certain exemptions in the Act, but an exemption is not a safety argument. Every reputable operator fits the correct seat, and we do it as a matter of policy rather than obligation.

Rideshare vehicles generally do not carry seats at all, which is the practical reason families pre-book.

How to book it properly

Give the child's age, weight and height when you book — not the age alone. Weight is what determines the seat.

Confirm the seat is installed before the vehicle departs for you, not on arrival. A correctly fitted seat takes a few minutes and should never be done at the curb with a queue behind you.

If you are bringing your own seat, say so, and tell us whether it is rear- or forward-facing so we assign a vehicle with the right anchor configuration.

Which vehicle to choose

One car seat fits comfortably in an executive sedan. Two seats plus luggage is really an SUV job, and three or more means an SUV or a van.

Bear in mind that a rear-facing seat consumes a lot of front-to-back space; a family of four with a rear-facing infant and a booster is far more comfortable in an SUV than in a sedan, regardless of what the seat count says.

Arriving at Pearson with children

Meet-and-greet is worth it with small children. Coming through customs with a stroller, a toddler and three bags is not the moment to be coordinating a curbside pickup by text.

The chauffeur meets you inside past customs, takes the luggage, and walks you to a car that already has the correct seat fitted and waiting.

Quick answers

Do you provide car seats for airport transfers?
Yes, at no additional charge — infant, convertible and booster seats. Give us the child's age, weight and height when booking so the correct seat is fitted in advance.
Is a car seat legally required in a limo in Ontario?
Licensed vehicles-for-hire have certain exemptions under the Highway Traffic Act, but we fit appropriate restraints for every child as a matter of policy. If you want the legal detail for your situation, check the current Act or ask us and we will confirm what we will provide.
