A chauffeur is not a driver who is free
The distinction is real. A chauffeur is assigned to you for a booked period, drives a specific vehicle held for you, and is trained and dressed for professional service. A rideshare or taxi driver takes whatever trip a dispatch system offers next and leaves when it ends.
In practice that means someone who has read your itinerary before arriving, knows which entrance of the building works at 8am, holds the door, loads luggage, and then says nothing at all unless you start the conversation.
What a full day includes
A standard full day is eight hours, though we book six, eight, ten and twelve. Within it: unlimited stops, all waiting time, bottled water, phone charging, and a chauffeur who stays with the vehicle rather than disappearing for lunch at the inconvenient moment.
The car also becomes storage. Shopping, sample cases, coats, a laptop bag you do not want to carry into a restaurant — it all stays in a locked vehicle that is never more than a few minutes away.
Who books full days, and why
Visiting executives with four meetings across three municipalities. Families doing a Toronto sightseeing day with grandparents who cannot manage transit stairs. Property investors viewing six houses in an afternoon. Film and production people on location. Medical days where the wait is unpredictable and nobody wants to be watching a meter.
And, increasingly, people who simply do not want to drive on the Gardiner and then hunt for parking twice.
How to brief a chauffeur so the day works
Send the itinerary the day before, not the morning of. Addresses, not place names — a postcode and a building name beats "the office on King". Flag anything with a hard deadline so it can be planned backwards from.
Say what you want the car to feel like. Silent working space, or conversation and local recommendations? Both are fine; guessing wrong is what makes a day feel off.
Mention the awkward details, because they are the ones that cause delay: a wheelchair, a child seat, a dog, six cases, a case of wine to collect, or a stop where the vehicle genuinely cannot park.
Multi-day and continuity
For any stay over two days, ask for the same chauffeur throughout. By day three they know the routine — the coffee stop, the door you prefer at the hotel, whether you take calls in the car — and the whole thing gets quieter and faster.
We hold assignments on request wherever scheduling allows, and it costs nothing extra.
