Hourly or Point-to-Point? Choosing the Right Booking

Two ways to book the same car. One is cheaper for simple days; the other is cheaper for everything else.

The two models

Point-to-point prices a journey. You are quoted a flat rate from A to B, and it does not change for traffic, weather or time of day. Airport transfers are almost always booked this way.

Hourly prices time. The vehicle and chauffeur are yours for a block, waiting included, stops unlimited within it.

Where each one wins

Point-to-point wins on: a single journey with a known destination; airport runs; anything where you will not need the car again for hours; and budget certainty on a simple trip.

Hourly wins on: three or more stops; uncertain end times; days with waiting built in; evenings where plans might change; group nights out; and any situation where being stranded would be genuinely expensive.

The arithmetic

Roughly, hourly starts to pay from the third stop. Two point-to-point legs downtown cost about $248; the same evening as a three-hour hourly block is $384 with waiting included, so point-to-point is cheaper if you truly only need two moves.

Add a third stop, though, and point-to-point becomes $372 and involves three separate bookings and three waits for a car to arrive. At that point hourly is competitive on price and far better on experience.

There is a second, less obvious cost to point-to-point: re-booking friction. Every extra leg is a decision, a wait and an unknown. Hourly removes that entirely.

Mixing both in one day

Most of our regular clients do exactly this. A flat-rate transfer from Pearson in the morning, because that leg is simple and flight-tracked. Then an hourly block in the afternoon for meetings, because that part of the day is unpredictable.

You do not have to pick one model for a whole trip. Tell us the shape of the day and we will price each part the way that costs you least.

Quick answers

Is hourly limo hire more expensive?
Per journey it can be, on simple two-stop days. From the third stop onwards, or where the car would otherwise wait, hourly is usually the same price or cheaper — and it removes the risk of no car being available.
Can I switch from point-to-point to hourly mid-booking?
Yes. Tell your chauffeur or call dispatch and we will convert the booking and quote the hourly block from that point. It is a common change on days that grow.
