The pattern
Rogers Centre sits beside the CN Tower at the foot of the city. The area fills from about two hours before first pitch, and the streets immediately around it — Blue Jays Way, Bremner, Front — become slow from roughly ninety minutes out.
Weeknight games at 7:07pm collide with the tail of rush hour, which is the worst combination. Weekend afternoon games are considerably easier in both directions.
Arriving
Aim to be dropped 45 minutes before first pitch. That gives you the gates, a queue for food and your seat without rushing.
Drop-off works well on the streets a block north of the stadium. Parking in the immediate area is expensive on game days and the lots empty slowly afterwards, which is the real cost.
Leaving
The ninth inning empties the stadium into a few blocks in about ten minutes. Two strategies work:
Leave in the eighth if the game is decided, and be collected before the crowd moves. Slightly heretical, extremely effective.
Or wait it out — agree a pickup two or three blocks north, walk it, and let the immediate streets clear for fifteen minutes. Either beats standing at the gate while a car tries to reach you.
For a group, hourly hire covering dinner beforehand and the ride home removes the decision entirely.
If the roof is the question
Rogers Centre has a retractable roof, so games are almost never cancelled for weather — but a closed roof on a hot day changes what you want to wear, and a sudden closure mid-game means everyone leaves at once rather than drifting out.
Check the schedule and any promotional dates on the club's own site; giveaway nights and fireworks nights draw materially bigger crowds and shift the timings above by half an hour in each direction.
