Getting there
Canada's Wonderland is in Vaughan, just off Highway 400 north of the city. From downtown Toronto it is around 40 minutes outside peak, and closer to an hour on a summer morning when everyone else has the same plan.
The 400 northbound builds from about 8:30am on weekends. Leaving before 8:30 or after 10:30 makes a material difference to the drive.
The parking problem
On-site parking is paid, and the lots are enormous. The cost is one thing; the walk from a far lot with children and bags is another, and the exit queue at closing is the real issue — a full park emptying at once produces a long, slow crawl to the highway.
A drop-off at the gates removes all three. You step out at the entrance, and at the end of the day your chauffeur collects you from a pre-agreed point rather than you sitting in a stationary car park.
When to arrive and leave
Arrive at opening if you want the headline rides without long queues — the first ninety minutes are consistently the quietest of the day.
For departure you have two good options and one bad one. Leave before the closing rush, around an hour before the park closes, or wait after it, giving the lots twenty minutes to clear. Leaving exactly at closing is the worst of both.
Agree the pickup point with your chauffeur before you go in, and text when you are heading for the gates.
Practical notes
Lockers are available and worth it — most major rides do not allow loose items. Bring a change of clothes for the water rides in summer, which is exactly the sort of thing that lives comfortably in the car.
Season passes and timed entry affect the busiest days, and the park runs seasonal events including a Halloween programme that changes the crowd profile entirely. Check current hours and event dates before you plan the day.
