Start with the honest part
For a solo trip across town at 2pm with no deadline, a rideshare is cheaper, arrives quickly and is entirely adequate. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
The case for a booked car is not that it is always better. It is that its failure modes are different, and in specific situations those differences matter a great deal.
Where the difference shows up
Collecting a client. A named chauffeur in business dress holding a board is a different signal from a stranger's Corolla with a phone mount. Whether that matters depends on the client — but you know which of yours it matters for.
Hard deadlines. A booked car is dispatched with buffer and is already nearby. A rideshare is a request into a marketplace, and the marketplace can decline.
Peak and weather. Surge pricing and long waits arrive together, exactly when you can least absorb either. A booked flat rate does not move.
Multi-stop days. Re-hailing between four meetings is four opportunities to wait. A held car is none.
Discretion. Sensitive calls in the back of a car with a chauffeur who is contractually and professionally bound to discretion, in the same vehicle all day.
The expensing argument nobody mentions
This is unglamorous and it is often what actually decides it for a firm. A corporate account produces one monthly invoice with cost-centre and matter codes and a CSV export. Rideshare produces dozens of individual receipts that someone has to reconcile, categorise and chase.
For a firm doing meaningful volume, the administrative saving alone can offset a good part of the price difference.
A sensible policy
Most of our corporate clients land somewhere like this: rideshare for solo, low-stakes, off-peak trips. Booked car service for client-facing travel, airport transfers, multi-stop days, late-night staff travel under duty-of-care, and anything with a deadline attached.
That policy is cheaper than defaulting to either extreme, and it is easy to write down and explain.
