Scotiabank Arena Concerts: Doors, Bags and the Ride Home

Downtown's biggest indoor venue, sitting on top of Union Station — which is both the convenience and the complication.

The location

Scotiabank Arena sits directly south of Union Station at Bay and Lake Shore, in the densest transit interchange in the country. It hosts the Leafs, the Raptors and the largest touring concerts.

Being on top of Union is a genuine advantage arriving — and the reason the surrounding streets are saturated when 19,000 people leave simultaneously into the same few blocks.

Arriving

Doors typically open an hour to ninety minutes before the show, and the immediate streets — Bay, York, Lake Shore, Bremner — thicken from about 45 minutes out.

A drop-off on a side street a block from the entrance is faster and less stressful than insisting on the door. Your chauffeur will suggest one; they do this several nights a week.

Leaving, properly

The pattern is the same as every large venue and it is worth internalising: agree the pickup point before you go in. Somewhere two or three blocks north or east, clear of the Union Station pedestrian flow.

If you have booked hourly, the car simply holds nearby and comes to you. If you booked point-to-point, we set the return leg at a realistic time — usually fifteen minutes after the scheduled end, because encores are not optional and nobody wants to pay waiting time for a second encore.

One practical detail: mobile signal in the immediate area right after a show is often poor because everyone is on their phone at once. Agree the meeting point in advance so you are not relying on a text getting through.

Bags, timing and the rest

Bag policy at the arena is restrictive and enforced, and it changes. Check the venue's current policy on its own site before you leave home — being turned away at the door to go and store a bag is an avoidable half hour.

For dinner beforehand, the Entertainment District immediately north-west is five minutes away, and a single hourly booking covering dinner, the show and the ride home is usually cheaper than three separate legs.
